Experience and energy with a pinch of tenacity and good nature are the ingredients that make up the personality of Giorgio Mariani, born and bred in Brianza, chef for 46 years and soul of our restaurant. After extensive experience in the top restaurants of Lombardy and Piemonte, he has returned to his home town and has been serving his delicacies to our guests for over 20 years.
He began working in Milan in 1959 as a kitchen assistant at the famous "da Giannino" restaurant in the heart of the metropolis, and became a leading chef after tirelessly learning the tricks of the trade about which he is so passionate. The "da Giannino" restaurant was one of the most important of Lombardy’s capital, Milan, frequented by the greatest celebrities of the day: entrepreneurs, actors and artists, not to mention the AC Inter and Milan players.
He worked at "da Giannino" for 10 years and then, after making his risottos the jewel in the crown of this famous restaurant, he collaborated in opening the Hotel Sonesta in Milan, which soon became a branch of the famous Hilton chain. Giorgio continued to delight his customers in the kitchens of Piemonte’s high profile restaurants such as the Grand Hotel del Mare in Bordighera.
1975 marked his return to Brianza and the inauguration of the La Zuccona restaurant in Tregasio. Nine years later, he opened the Hotel-Restaurant I Ronchi of which he was the proprietor until 2003 and where he still provides the service of chef and advisor.
